I am so happy and grateful now that I can continue to inspire, coach, and encourage great minds that will shape our future.
My days start out like most teachers; however, as of late a friend recommended a new habit that has become part of a great start! Before driving in to work, I quickly write an affirmation list. Simply put, 10 things I am grateful for in life. Each starts in the present tense with “I am so happy and grateful now that........”.
Starting each day with gratitude on my mind and happiness in the heart takes me through tougher circumstances during the school day that used to trip me up as a younger teacher.
Believe me, I did not place much stock in this at first and did not need one more thing to do in the morning. But I can say now, it really has created a much better year! This habit makes me happy and you cannot be happy and sad or mad at the same time!
As we work through week ten of the traditional school year, give it a try!
