As the summer fades into the distant past, just one teacher story needs to be shared in the first post of the new school year.
me: Why did we get married on a Friday? Church booked? Hall scheduling?
wife: I can’t believe you don’t remember.....
me: Remember what? It was 19 years ago.
wife: You needed to get back in time for the first football workout of the summer.
me: Oh, yeah.....
wife: It was non-negotiable! School would get out, we had about 10 days to tend to details, get married, go on a honeymoon, and get back for the first summer football workout on the first Monday after the 4th of July.
Lucky my wife, Amy, understands and is a teacher too! This kind of dedication and sacrifice led to a lot of success on the field. It is also the same kind of mindset great teachers bring to the classroom. As the new season ramps up, just wanted to recognize the special commitment that so many make for our students! Thanks and a special thanks to my wife Amy for putting up with me for 19 seasons.
